Very authentic Hunan cuisine. Hot, spicy, and savory. There are 2 sets of menus so remember to ask for the one for Chinese if you want to experience the real Hunan-spicy food.

If you love spicy Hunan food, don't miss this restaurant!! Pork belly with green peppers (农家小炒肉) is my favorite. It may look simple but after tasing you will feel the difference with other restaurants. I cannot describe why it is better but you gonna try yourself I also recommend pork rib, fried eggs with tomato and fried rice!!

A former icon of San Francisco. This is the last real standing location. Diana's Special Meat Pie is my favorite dish in the entire world and this is the ONLY place you can get it. Everything here is delicious. Make sure to try some dumplings (homemade and incredible) and their dry-sautéed green beans. As funny as it sounds, the Chinese chicken salad is an absolute classic and very delicious.

So my boss took me here about 3 months ago. So, if you don't follow me, but I don't usually eat Chinese food unless it's Cantonese food, cuz that's what I grew up on. I'm not too much of a fan of Shanghainese food or any other Chinese cuisine, but damn. This Henry's and their meat pie is so good.... and there ORANGE CHICKEN IS FIRE! better than PANDA express and I LOVE that they add red pepper flakes to it to give it some kick. Their green beans were cooked to perfection too. Not overcooked but not super raw either. It's right down the street from where I work so if I go again, I'll be getting those two or three dishes, that is all.

It is indeed a very authentic Hunan restaurant - tried the bullfrog and chicken gizzard for the first time and both were on-point flavors. Every dish can get a bit spicy and you do need the spicy to taste the true flavors. Would recommend definitely getting few bowls of rice. Only complaint was there weren't enough servers and cooks so kitchen was backlogged - we didn't get our food until an hour later :(

Confirm again this is my favorite Chinese restaurant in SF downtown! Especially if you are craving for spicy food. And many of my friends also vote this their top restaurants around the Bay Area. The food tastes so yummy every time. It's spicy, hot , savory, flavorful. Hunan spicy is different than Sichuan spicy. It highlights the fragrant from cooking with wok )hot oil sizzling )!

Beautiful evolution of Henry's Hunan while paying its proper respects! We got the spicy cod, veggie fried rice, chow mein, and kung pao tofu (which is typically not on the menu but they were kind enough to accommodate my dietary needs!). The dining area upstairs is modern, stylish, calming and tucked in. The staff is always so kind and caring. Always a pleasant dining experience here at Sohunan!

Came here for a team lunch in the middle of a workday. We came to get a table before noon and had no wait/were seated right away. There is a separate line for you to order take out and it seems pretty efficient from what I saw. When we left at around 12:30, the line to get a table and to order take out at the window was much longer. We over ordered so much because it was pretty reasonably priced and it was one of the tables where you can turn the middle to easily share all the dishes. Make sure to order white rice on the side if that's something you want with your dishes as the majority of what we ordered did not. Portion sizes are HUGE- share everything. They allow for you to choose how spicy you want it- I'd recommend starting on the lower side & asking for them to bring extra sauce to the table Hot & sour soup - 5/5 one of the best I've had in the city so far. Absolutely delicious. So much flavor and perfect to order for take out if sick. Beware that it is spicy and not easy on those that are not good with spice. Meat Pie- 5/5. Reminded me of a Crunchwrap supreme. I was wary of this one, but it was absolutely delicious and had a lot of flavor. Fried rice - 3/5. Was alright, didn't have very much flavor. Orange chicken- 4/5 sticky, orange chicken. just the way people usually like it. Decently spicy. Chow mein - 3/5. It was alright, maybe I just am not the biggest fan of this dish in general. Mongolian beef- 5/5 was a hit & delicious. Was on the spicier side even though we ordered it medium. Only reason I downrated it was for the service. It was quite slow and we had to repeat ourselves quite a bit. It was a large party so I do appreciate their patience. As we were leaving, ladies insisted on us bagging our leftovers and quickly ran out to give us bags even though they were clearly busy. Much appreciated that!
